We provide a holistic approach to health and wellness, empowering and encouraging Fort Lewis College students as well as the greater community, to embrace healthy lifestyles.
The Wellness Peer Advisory Council (WellPAC) is a student-led health and wellness organization aimed at promoting healthy choices among FLC students. WellPAC reaches out to the campus through a humanistic approach, aiming to meet students where they are at with their physical, social and emotional health. Through educational programs, small groups, outreach efforts and peer consultations using motivational interviewing techniques, WellPAC hopes to provide resources for students that will support them to be happy, healthy and successful.
What’s up next:
Annually, we will host alcohol and marijuana screenings, the De-Stress Fest and Fresh Check Day. Alcohol and marijuana screenings allow FLC students to take a self assessment and receive a score that shows how they compare to other students in terms of use and the likelihood of risk. They are nonjudgmental and give students the opportunity to connect with a peer consultant for a one-on-one motivational interviewing session, as well as to connect with other resources. De-Stress Fest takes place at the end of each academic year, just before finals and encourages stress management techniques. Fresh Check Day is a national initiative made possible by the Jordan Porco Foundation that focuses on suicide prevention, making the campus community aware of red flags and resources. We provide active bystander trainings, peer educator certification and hope to provide mental health first aid trainings as well.
