San Juan BOCES provides services and support for all students in our eight member school districts: Pagosa Springs, Bayfield, Ignacio, Silverton, Mancos, Montezuma-Cortez, Dolores and Dove Creek. Our vision is to build capacity to ensure the personal success of all students through partnerships with our member districts. We provide support to students K-12 and their families through direct services from school psychologists, social workers, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and a variety of other specialists in the school setting. We have an early childhood team, Child Find, which services preschools and preschool-age children in our member district regions.
SJBOCES service providers collaborate with the school to develop and implement programming that addresses the whole child, including mental health, social-emotional learning and building resilience.
Several grants have allowed us to put focused attention on suicide prevention work and trauma-informed care, restorative practices and building support for affective education.
What’s up next:
The SJBOCES has a number of grants and initiatives that we are very excited to support through a multi-tiered systems of support framework. A few to highlight are our suicide prevention grant through the El Pomar Foundation and the Caring for Colorado Grant supporting professional development for teachers around adolescent behavioral health.
